Outdoor Services and Diagnostics

The outdoor has a floor area of 5000 sq.feet and all of the well equipped 10 consulting chambers and the Waiting Hall are air conditioned. An Elevator, as well as a water cooler is provided for the convenience of patients and their attendants. All records of the patients examined at the Hospital are electronically maintained. Over 50,000 visit the hospital each year, benefiting from the experience of the distinguished team of doctors. The Hospital provides comprehensive diagnostic facilities for the eye.

  • Eye testing: Both Computerised (Canon) as well as subjective
  • A Scan & Biometry (Alcon): Evaluates the exact power of the lens which needs to be inserted in the eye during Cataract surgery
  • Nd Yag Laser(Biophysic) : Disperses post Cataract opacity and treats Glaucoma
Humphrey Computerised visual field analyser (Zeiss) : Evaluates the extent of vision LOSS due to Glaucoma or other neurological diseases -analysing what you can see with your "fields" of vision from the periphery of your eye while keeping the eye fixated in the middle.
  • Arc Perimeter for plotting Visual Fields
  • Non Contact Tonometer (Nidek): evaluates precisely and painlessly intraocular pressure and detects and monitors cases of Glaucoma, the silent blinding disease. Also very important for screening everyone above 40 years.
  • B Scan (Storz): In the presence of a mature Cataract, vitreous opacities or blood in the eye, the retina cannot be seen. This scans the retina to look for retinal detachment, foreign bodies in the vitreous and other posterior segment pathologies.
  • AB Scan Compuscan:Storz (West Germany) – for ultrasound of the eye
  • Diode Laser with all delivery options: slit lamp, laser indirect ophthalmoscope and endolaser (Iris, USA- the world leader): for treating Glaucoma & Retinal diseases, sealing all the breaks and imperfections in the retina. A surgical tool par excellence. Also an essential prerequisite before LASIK treatment for removal of glasses
  • Digital Fluorescein Angiography(Zeiss) : for precisely diagnosing and documenting the minute blood vessels in the retina in diabetic retinopathy, venous occlusions due to hypertension, retinal vascular inflammations and Age Related Macular Detachment(ARMD)
  • Fundus photography (Zeiss) : takes large and very detailed pictures of the retina to pinpoint the problem area
  • Synoptophore (Keeler) : helps measure the degree of Squint and muscle balance. It is also a tool par excellence for eye muscle excercises decreasing Squint even without surgery when indicated
  • CAM Stimulator (Clement Clarke) for managing Amblyopia
  • Corneal Topography: This primary test very accurately maps and plots the cornea, almost like the whorls and grooves of a fingerprint, individual to each eye. It forms the basis of the LASIK procedure, mapping the
corneal irregularities that must be corrected
  • Keratometer (Zeiss) for measuring Corneal curvature
  • WASCA Wavefront Aberrometry: aberrations (or optical irregularities) are measured and quantified for LASIK correction giving the patient the best chance of achieving better than 6/6 vision
  • CRS Master Twinline Ablation Planning Platform
  • Pachymetry: calculates the corneal thickness to assess if the patient is eligible for LASIK surgery
  • Indirect Ophthalmoscope: diagnoses the rear portion of the eyeball for any ailment of the Retina
  • Pentacam (Zeiss) : The best diagnostic tool for LASIK Evaluatiuon
  • Optical Coherence Tomograph (OCT Cirrus 400) for Retinal Nerve Fibre mapping and Ganglion Cell Complex mapping
  • C3R : Collagen Cross linking With Riboflavin Drops for Keratoconus Patients
